Living on Beach Time

This weekend, I must have had the same conversation with multiple customers.

Living in a beach town, summer takes on a different time zone. We don't plan as much, or make reservations. Some days we set up real early on the beach, for a full day adventure. Other days we wake up late and ride the boards, grab some lunch and watch the ocean.

The only time I would plan my children's camp early in the season, were the weeks my nephews were to attend as well. They live upstate, and as I'm sure they have "summer time zone" as well, my sister plans her camps way in advance, like in the winter.

I realize even this email is on summer time...it was suppose to go out last night, but the fire pit and summer tunes got in the way.

So here are some questions:

QUESTION: Is it too late to sign my child up for next weeks art camp?

MICHELLE: It really depends on which art camp you are looking at. The

morning art camps fill up pretty fast, and we can only take

12 campers, due to other field trips visiting our store in the

summer. On those days we use the upstairs space in

Earth Arts to accomodate everyone comfortably. The

Afternoon Art Camp at the Rec, has a much larger space,

and we can add additional instructors to accomodate

larger weeks.

QUESTION: Can I sign my child up for different days, we can't do a

whole week?

MICHELLE: Both morning and afternoon art camp have weekly

registration. The afternoon art camp is ONLY weekly.

If our morning art camp does not sell out by the friday

before, we offer daily sign ups. For example: This weeks

Out of this world Camp has one seat left, but next weeks

Claying Around is Sold out!

QUESTION: We don't like to plan anything in the summer. When you

are you open for pottery painting? You are going to be our

rainy day activity.

MICHELLE: I completely understand this mentality! And today is the

perfect rainy day. We are open 12-5 on Mondays. Pottery Painting

is always available during our regular store hours. No

need to call ahead, unless you want to say hi! Our summer

store hours are on our website, we are open 7 days in the

summer.

gotta go walk the dog (and the cat) on summer time.
